Confirmation at St. Paul's
"Do you this day in the presence of God and of this congregation acknowledge the gifts that God gave you in your baptism?"
These are the first words asked of each confirmand on the day of their confirmation, the affirmation of their own baptism.
It is the goal of St. Paul's Lutheran Church to partner with each students parents in preparing each young person to accept the vows their parents made for them at their baptism as their own. In order to do this, we train them in the Lutheran Faith looking specifically at doctrines such as Baptism, The Lord's Supper, The 10 Commandments, Confession, Apostles Creed, and the Lord's Prayer as well as other important teachings.
The Confirmation Program at St. Paul's consists of 3 years of instruction. 7 Grade spends the year looking at God's story - The Bible - and his plan for salvation for his fallen creation. Students are blessed to be led by 7th Grade Confirmation instructor Galen Schultz who has a heart for his Lord and passion for helping young people grow in their faith!
8th Grade is a time of learning deeper about the Christian Faith. DCE Chris take the 8th grade class through the 10 Commandments, the Apostles Creed and the Lord's Prayer.
9th grade students work with Pastor Andrew Ratcliffe spending more time discussing our faith and learning from Luther's Small Catechism - reviewing the Creed and Lord's Prayer but also looking at the other Chief Parts of the faith as taught in the Catechism and more!
